To the FS community:

We are contacting you with an important update—and with a very heavy heart—today.

In light of the current situation surrounding COVID-19 and based on models and calculations from various experts outlining the course of the coming months, it is evident that an event like Fifteen Seconds Festival Istanbul—with thousands of attendees from all over the world, held mostly in a large indoor space—simply cannot take place in Turkey this year.

As event organizers and as a platform, we have made it our mission to bring new forms of analog knowledge transfer and unconventional networking to our community since 2014. This job comes with many responsibilities. One of the most important ones: to keep you safe at our events. At Fifteen Seconds Festival, we want you to contract a future-forward spirit—and nothing else.

As part of society, the team behind Fifteen Seconds feel that we have to do everything in our power to help stop coronavirus from spreading and slow the curve. Carrying out a large scale event like Fifteen Seconds Festival this fall would go directly against that.

Even as the current situation weighs heavily on everyone’s spirit, we won’t give in to the negativity—and instead view it as a chance to become even better and stronger. We’ll use the coming months as an opportunity to take an inward turn and think about the things that matter; to sharpen our focus and return to one of the core values that have carried the idea of Fifteen Seconds since the beginning: our creativity. And we’ll use it to come up with new and future-proof ideas. Let’s blueprint the future instead of painting it black.

In this spirit, Fifteen Seconds Festival Istanbul will take place in fall 2021. Of course, all tickets purchased to date remain valid. We will announce the exact date soon.

Even though we’re doing our best to stay positive, we have to admit that the current developments surrounding coronavirus hit us hard: Surely, you can imagine the challenges for us as a company that generates most of its revenue from hosting its own event formats. But from many talks in the last few weeks we know we’re not the only ones: this crisis affects everyone.

Let’s get through this together. Just remember: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

On that note, we’re hoping to see all of you safe and sound in Istanbul in the fall of 2021. Our team is pouring its lifeblood into planning and executing Fifteen Seconds Festival. But only you can make it what it is: Europe’s festival for curious minds.

Stay healthy and take care of yourselves!

At a glance: The most important information

Why have you decided to push back the festival to 2021?

At present, no one can reliably predict the course of the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications in the coming months. As event organizers, we have to recognize our responsibility and mustn’t take any risks here. This is why we have heavy-heartedly had to make this decision.

What is the new date for the festival?

Fifteen Seconds Festival Istanbul will take in fall 2021. The exact date will be announced soon.

Can I cancel a purchased ticket?

No, all tickets purchased to date remain valid. But we have optimized our ticketing service: Festival Passes to Fifteen Seconds Festival Istanbul can be transferred to others until 24 hours before the event. To do so, buyers can simply change the name on the ticket.

Why can’t I cancel my ticket?

We are a small company that is constantly growing; much of this growth relies on the revenue that we generate with Fifteen Seconds Festival. At the time of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we had already taken on the staff and costs associated with carrying out the festival (= service provision). This service provision is now postponed to next year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why we have to secure our ability to provide the service as well as the jobs behind it. Any other strategy would force a company like ours into insolvency in the face of this serious crisis.
